Comments Off Belated Happy Thanksgiving!
It’s been a few weeks since we last wrote something for the website. I feel like I wrote the post about the missions conference just a couple days ago. I guess two trips in Knoxville in two weeks will make time fly like that! The missions conference at FBC Powll/Fountain City was a great and encouraging experience. We were the only non-Southern Baptist missionaries, so we had to explain many times throughout the weekend what we were doing and why. Some of you who are Southern Baptist and know we are might also wonder why we aren’t going to be Southern Baptist missionaries. The simple answer to that question is that it’s just not where God called us. Initially we did look into the International Mission Board with the Southern Baptist Convention including a couple rounds of applications and an interview and found out that out of 500 open positions, Toffer’s skill set only sort of fit into 1 of those positions. The IMB is a great mission agency, it just didn’t work out for us. We did enjoy meeting other missionaries, especially those serving in the area of the world we will be serving in, and even met a couple who thought that some of the believers they work with in the country they serve in might be interested in radio. God never wastes experiences, that’s for sure. We put on our Chinese clothes we bought in Singapore for a couple of the events during the missions conference.

We also had Thanksgiving last week. Happy Thanksgiving a little late! I always enjoy thinking through all the things I have to be thankful for and every year there are more than I can count. God is always faithful and always provides. I know I will always have that to be thankful for. I’m also thankful for Toffer and the amazing husband he is and our sweet Samuel who God so lovingly blessed Toffer and I with just over a year ago. He is a joyful part of our family!
This year has a little over a month left and I know, like every other month this year, it will be a busy one. My prayer is to focus on the One who makes all things possible and on how I may glorify Him daily. Have a great December!
