I mentioned about a month ago that I’ve been going through a prayer devotional book called Prayers for the Faithful.  Each week has the same verse everyday for praise and worship.  This week the verse is Genesis 15:1, which says “I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward.”  As I meditated on that small piece of scripture today, God laid on my heart that my reward is HIM.  He is my exceedingly great reward.  My obedience to following through in what He calls me to and the subsequent closer relationship I have with Him as a result is my reward.  We do indeed reap what we sow.  When my sowing is obedience to Him, I reap the great reward of a closer relationship with Him.  Yes, there are other things I would definitely like to be reaping out of the work I’ve done in the past 10 months of raising support.  And the time will come when we do reap the benefits of all the work we’ve done. But for the moment, when I don’t know when or how we will see the harvest from all that work, I will treasure the closer relationship I have with my heavenly Father and praise Him for continually growing me, stretching me, and molding me.
