Comments Off Stories of My Own
We all like stories. We love to tell them (and sometimes we even stop to listen to them). For me, the stories I hear about what God is doing in the field keep the real focus of the ministry being seeing lives changed with the Gospel, not just another bunch of equipment that was hooked up. In emails, face-to-face conversations, and newsletters we have tried to share as many related stories of lives changed as we can. They are fantastic stories of what God is doing in some really dark places in the world.
But now I’m ready to have some from my own experience to share.
I want to be able to post a story on Facebook or here on the website about how I’ve seen firsthand God use the ministry of HCJB Global to make a real impact for eternity. I want to share with our prayer and financial supporters how their commitment is reaping rewards in the hearts of people turned to Jesus. I want to share about kids in a remote village that may for the first time have the opportunity to hear about God’s love for them. The stories I have been hearing are what excite me about what I will be doing and help motivate me during the times of frustration that come during the support raising process.
A year and a half ago I had the opportunity to spend a week in the field with HCJB Global’s two other radio planters from the Asia-Pacific office. The experience was both overwhelming and exhausting, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world. I spent the week thinking there was no way I could do any of this but returned to the United States not seeing myself doing anything else. It was one of those times when something seems so far from what you’d want to do that the fact that you still want to do it is just another pointer that God is leading you that way.
At this point it won’t be long before we’ve been in support raising mode for two years. We as a family are ready to head to the field. Our team is ready for us to be there… a few days ago we noticed they’ve already planned where I’ll be in the organization chart. And I’m praying that it won’t be much longer before I’m sharing with you some stories of my own.
